Muhammad Shahzad slammed his sixth first-class century, playing for Pakistan Television against Hyderabad Kingsmen Academy, in the ongoing President’s Trophy.
Muhammad Shahzad came out to bat at number five for his team and slammed a 49-ball century on the opening day of the match. This is the fastest first-class century by a Pakistani batter, breaking legendary ’s record of 56 balls against Australia in Abu Dhabi in November 2014.

Overall, this is the eighth-fastest century (in terms of balls) in the history of first-class cricket. Glen Chapple and Mark Pettini of Lancashire and Essex, respectively, top the list, having breached the 100-run mark in just 27 balls in the County Championship. Chapple did so first in 1993 against Glamorgan before Pettini equalled this extraordinary feat in 2006 against Leicestershire.

Coming back to Shahzad’s heroics, PTV were struggling at 34-3 in 15.1 overs when he walked out to bat. The 22-year-old turned the innings on its head with his fiery knock, bringing up a record century. He was eventually dismissed on 114 off 62 deliveries by Zia-ul-Haq, but not before stitching a 143-run partnership with Mohammad Taha for the fourth wicket.
Apart from Shahzad, Sharoon Siraj crossed the 50-run mark and was uneaten on 53 at stumps, with PTV at 285-7.
