Stars from Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently among those making up the elite of dribblers in Europe’s top five leagues so far.

Here are the 10 players who have completed the most dribbles across Europe’s five major leagues so far (Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Bundesliga) this season.

Note: if two players are tied on the number of dribbles completed, we’ve listed them in order of superior success rate.

10. Matias Soule – 22

Soule has been making a habit of featuring in these rankings ever since he first caught the eye as a youngster at Frosinone.

The Argentine has completed 22 dribbles in 10 Serie A appearances this season, successfully beating his man on almost 60% of his attempts.

He’s continuing to deliver the goods at Roma. Still only 23, too.

9. Jeremy Doku – 24

No surprises to see the Belgian here.

Doku has completed 24 of his 47 attempted dribbles in the Premier League this season, having played just 307 minutes.

He’s averaging over seven successful dribbles per 90 minutes. Nobody in this top 10 comes close to matching that rate. He takes someone on roughly once every six minutes.

8. Gessime Yassine – 23

Fresh from becoming the youngest Moroccan player ever to score at a World Cup, Yassine has been playing for Strasbourg.

The BlueCo-owned club have seen Yassine make an impressive start to the campaign, with the youngster continuing to catch the eye in Ligue 1.

Dribbling-wise, he is already up to 26 completed in nine appearances, having played fewer games than most on this list.

He’s attempted 62 dribbles altogether, with 36 unsuccessful efforts giving him a success rate of 41.9%.

7. David Larrubia – 26

Having come through the Malaga youth academy, Larrubia has established himself in the first team of his boyhood club.

Playing on the right wing, he’s made over 140 appearances for the club at the age of 24 and is now the starting choice for Juan Francisco Funes.

This season, he’s attempted 65 dribbles and completed 26 of them, giving him a pretty sketchy success rate of exactly 40%. He’s now seventh in Europe’s major leagues for successful dribbles, but no player has registered more unsuccessful attempts than his 39.

6. Brajan Gruda – 26

The Germany Under-21 international is catching the eye once again at RB Leipzig, having rejoined the Bundesliga club on another loan from Brighton.

Gruda has completed 26 dribbles in just six league appearances, despite playing only 383 minutes. That’s an average of one successful dribble every 15 minutes.

He’s also been remarkably efficient, completing 61.9% of his 42 attempted dribbles. He ranks second for success rate among the players in this top 10.

5. Jude Bellingham – 29

The player has already spoken of how Mourinho has given him the freedom to play where he wants, and so this season is looking a lot more like his first year in Spain when he scored 19 league goals.

His willingness to get forward has also been shown in his dribbling numbers, with Bellingham one of the only midfielders to make the list, having completed 29 in 11 appearances so far.

The England international has attempted 48 dribbles altogether, completing 60.4% of them.

4. Giorgi Kvernadze – 29

Kvernadze is not a name too many of you will be familiar with, but he is currently proving Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not the only Georgian winger to be excited about.

Kvernadze plays for Serie A club Frosinone and leads the division for dribbles completed.

His tally of 29 is better than stars at Inter, Roma and Como. The fact he is doing this for little old Frosinone makes it all the more impressive.

3. Yan Diomande – 31

Madrid spent big on the 19-year-old winger this summer and they’ll be hoping he can continue to inject some pace and danger into their attack.

Most impressively, he’s only notched 20 unsuccessful dribbles from 51 attempted, giving him a success rate of 60.8%.

Vinicius Junior will have his work cut out to make it back into Jose Mourinho’s preferred XI, and with regular starts Diomande could soon find himself challenging for the top spot on this list.

2. Kylian Mbappe – 35

Considering he is one of the quickest but also most technically gifted players in the world, it should come as little surprise that Mbappe is second on this list.

He has started the season in excellent form, scoring a hat-trick against Real Sociedad and following that up with eight more goals over his next eight games.

As for the dribbles, Mbappe is second behind only Yamal, with 35 completed in 11 appearances. His success rate was dented by Madrid’s shock 1-0 loss at Real Betis and 2-1 defeat at Atletico Madrid, but the overall picture is altogether rosier.

He’s attempted 66 dribbles altogether, completing just over half. That’s a considerable improvement on his final ranking of sixth last season, which would suggest a change in how Mourinho wants him to play compared to how he did under Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.

1. Lamine Yamal – 43

Barcelona’s teenage wonderkid is leading the list, having completed a ridiculous 43 dribbles in his 11 games so far this season.

Yamal has attempted a staggering 80 dribbles altogether, comfortably more than any other player in Europe’s five major leagues. He’s successful just over half the time, averaging a completed dribble every 21 minutes.

Yamal was top of last year’s rankings and is on track to do it again. What a player. And still somehow a teenager.
