Superstar names from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich feature prominently among Europe’s leading goal contributors at this early stage of the 2026-27 campaign.
The usual elite names are joined by a few surprise packages when you look at combined goals and assists across the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
Here are the 10 players leading the way. Note: Where players are tied on total goals and assists, we’ve ordered them in order of the superior goal contribution per minute ratio.
10. Donyell Malen – 9 (8 goals, 1 assist)
Gian Piero Gasperini worked wonders with the likes of Duvan Zapata, Luis Muriel and Ademola Lookman at Atalanta. He’s now doing something similar with Malen at Roma.
The Dutchman has scored eight Serie A goals in just 575 minutes, spearheading the Giallorossi’s surprise challenge for the title.
9. Gustavo Varela – 10 (9 goals, 1 assist)
One of the great surprises of the 2026-27 season so far.
Varela is just 21 and playing for Serie A minnows Monza, but he’s already scored nine league goals. Only Raphinha, Mbappe and Yamal have found the net more often across Europe’s five major leagues.
A €2million move from Benfica is surely the biggest bargain of the summer. Napoli have already been linked with his signature.
8. Fermin Lopez – 10 (5 goals, 5 assists)
Bigger star names might be grabbing most of the headlines at Barcelona, but Fermin is quietly putting together an excellent campaign of his own.
7. Antonio Nusa – 10 (4 goals, 6 assists)
RB Leipzig have made a habit of developing starlets and they’ve got another on the production line in Nusa, who is beginning to deliver on his enormous potential.
The 21-year-old Norwegian has registered four goals and six assists in just eight Bundesliga appearances. That’s a goal contribution every 63 minutes.
6. Harry Kane – 10 (4 goals, 6 assists)
Four goals in eight Bundesliga appearances constitutes underperformance for a striker of Kane’s standards.
But registering six assists is an indication of the England captain’s quality. Expect him to zoom up this list.
4. Florian Thauvin – 11 (4 goals, 7 assists)
Remember him? The former Newcastle United winger has enjoyed a pretty remarkable career renaissance since quietly leaving St James’ Park a decade ago.
After making his name at Marseille and spending a couple of years in Mexico, Thauvin returned to France with Lens last year. He immediately hit the ground running to play a starring role for an unfancied side that mounted a surprise title charge.
Four goals and seven assists in nine appearances is an excellent return. Last season was no flash in the pan.
4. Lassine Sinayoko – 13 (8 goals, 5 assists)
After five years with Auxerre, finishing as their top scorer in 2025-26 with 12 Ligue 1 goals, Sinayoko moved to Paris FC over the summer.
The 26-year-old Mali international has hit the ground running, with eight goals and five assists in nine appearances to date.
Liam Rosenior’s high-flying overachievers are blessed with an absolute gem.
3. Kylian Mbappe – 14 (12 goals, 2 assists)
“I always think I’m the best [player in the world] but everyone has their own opinion,” Mbappe recently stated, lodging his campaign for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
His self-confidence is backed up by his numbers, to be fair.
2. Lamine Yamal – 17 (10 goals, 7 assists)
The teenage prodigy has been as much of a creator as a finisher at this fledgling stage of his career, having notched an almost perfectly symmetrical ratio of 56 goals and 54 assists for his boyhood club Barcelona.
That has continued in Barcelona’s rampant start to the 2026-27 campaign, with 10 goals and seven assists in La Liga, not to mention lots more in the Champions League and Spain’s recent Nations League side quest. Very rarely do we see the teenager draw a blank nowadays.
This season might just be where he goes truly stratospheric. The signs are impossible to ignore.
1. Raphinha – 18 (15 goals, 3 assists)
Barcelona waved goodbye to Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in the summer and failed to land top target Julian Alvarez as a replacement.
But the early evidence is that things might work out alright in the end for Barca, with Raphinha thriving in his new role as their main striker. He already has an excellent understanding with Yamal, while summer signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi have made bright starts.
A brace against Alaves took Raphinha to 15 La Liga goals in just 10 appearances. He’s averaging a goal every 48 minutes and already has more league goals than he managed throughout the entirety of last season.
We could be on for an all-timer of a season if Raphinha can keep this up.
