South Africa will host Australia for three ODIs between September 24 and 30, 2026, at Durban, Johannesburg, and Potchefstroom. In October, they will also host them for three Test matches.

The win-loss ratios of Australia (1.718) and South Africa (1.696) put them at the top of the historical table in men’s ODIs. It may be a shrinking format, but a clash between the two traditional superpowers is always a mouth-watering contest.

South Africa received setbacks when fast bowlers Ottneil Baartman and Lungi Ngidi were ruled out of the series with hamstring injuries. Duan Jansen, whose twin brother Marco is part of the squad, and Nqobani Mokoena replaced them. Australia, too, lost two fast bowlers, Billy Stanlake and Spencer Johnson. They brought in Jack Edwards, but announced no other substitution.

South Africa hold a 57-52 lead over Australia. They last hosted Australia for ODIs in September 2023, winning 3-2.
