Red Bull has given a vote of confidence in its team principal Laurent Mekies by extending his contract to run the team until 2031.
Mekies took over from Christian Horner in charge of the team last year. Horner had run Red Bull since it entered F1 in 2005.Under Mekies, Red Bull rebounded from a poor start to last season. From over 100 points behind, Max Verstappen came within two points of retaining his drivers’ championship title in one of the closest ever finishes to a world championship.
This year, in the team’s first season with its own power units designed in conjunction with Ford, Red Bull has won the last two grands prix.
