Williams’ ambassador Jamie Chadwick had her first test for the team at the Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal this week.

Chadwick completed 32 laps of the track on Monday.

“It was a phenomenal day and an incredible experience,” said Chadwick, who won the all-female W Series between 2019 and 2022.

“Few things can prepare you for driving a Formula 1 car at speed around a track like Portimao, but it was everything I imagined and 10 times more.”

Chadwick said she was “incredibly grateful” for the opportunity to drive the FW47, which the team raced last year.

“I remember being young and watching Susie Wolff step into a Williams F1 car and how much that inspired my own journey. I’d love to be able to do the same for the next generation, and the experience I gained today will make a real difference both to my own racing and to what I can pass on to the drivers coming through.”

Chadwick is the second woman to complete an F1 test this year. Mercedes junior Doriane Pin drove one of their cars in April.

The last woman to attempt to qualify for a grand prix was Giovanna Amati, in 1992.

Formula 1 will return to the Algarve circuit for the Portuguese Grand Prix next year.
