Maaz Sadaqat’s 58-ball 114 was overshadowed by Sufyan Moqim’s four-wicket haul as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons toppled Jamaica Kingsmen for their maiden CPL title.

Maaz, who also scored a century in the Eliminator against Barbados Tridents, got to the three-figure mark for the second time in three matches. In an innings that comprised eight fours and nine sixes, he became the first player to score a century in the CPL final. He, however, led a lone fight for the Kingsmen, scoring 67 per cent of their total of 170-9, with only Saim Ayub getting into double digits.
The young opener started in style, smashing the first delivery of the final for a six off Jayden Seales. He then lost opening partner Kirk McKenzie and No.3 Keacy Carty in quick succession, but joined hands with Saim to stitch an 80-run partnership off 46 deliveries. Maaz got to his fifty off 27 balls in the 10th over.
Sufyan was introduced in the 12th over when Kingsmen were 108-2, and he immediately sent Saim back for a 22-ball 29, before dismissing Rovman Powell for a three-ball duck in the same over. Shadab Khan got rid of Romaine Morris (0) in the next over, before Sufyan sent back Hassan Khan in the 14th, reducing Kingsmen from 110-2 to 113-6, which soon became 127-7, after the left-arm wrist-spinner also dismissed Keemo Paul to finish with figures of 4-0-14-4.
Maaz continued his onslaught, racing to a 49-ball ton with two fours and two sixes in the 17th over bowled by Joshua James. After adding 11 runs in the final over, he was dismissed on the penultimate ball of the innings for a 58-ball 114, taking the Kingsmen to a respectable 170-9. Andre Russell's disappointing season culminated with a seven-ball two.
Rahkeem Cornwall went down in the first over of the chase, but not before slamming 20 off the first five deliveries. Evin Lewis and Amir Jangoo added 64 runs together for the second wicket before the former fell in the eighth over. Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz stayed unbeaten on 57 and 47, respectively, carrying the Falcons to their maiden CPL title with 20 balls to spare.
