On this day in 2021 Lando Norris missed a chance to score his first grand prix victory as he stayed out on slick tyres as rain fell.

That allowed Lewis Hamilton grabbed his 100th grand prix victory, which moved him back into the lead of the championship fight. But Max Verstappen – who took a power unit change penalty as he had already been penalised for crashing into his title rival at Monza – minimised by the damage by racing from 20th to second place.
