25 years ago today Michael Schumacher joined in the final round of the CIK-FIA Formula Super A World Karting Championship at his home track, Kerpen.

Schumacher had just won his fourth title and was on his way to being the series’ first seven-times title winner. Lewis Hamilton, who would go on to emulate Schumacher’s achievement, was still racing karts, and this marked the first time the pair met on-track.

The pair shared the track with another future F1 champion, Nico Rosberg. Another upcoming F1 driver, Vitantonio Luizzi, clinched the title that day:
