The three-match series will serve as a shadow tour, and run alongside India senior men’s tour of New Zealand, which begins on Thursday, October 22, with the five-match T20I series. The senior teams are also scheduled to meet in five ODIs and two Tests.

As for the A tour, India have named a few Test regulars to help them get accustomed to the conditions ahead of the Test series. , KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, and Akash Deep will all feature for India A in the series.

Dhruv Jurel, the backup wicketkeeper of the senior team, will lead the A squad. Rishabh Pant was also picked, only to be later ruled out of the first two matches due to a side strain. Jharkhand wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra was called up as his replacement.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have named a 19-member squad for the series. Interestingly, Henry Nicholls is the only Test regular named in the squad, while some have represented the BlackCaps in white-ball cricket.

All 12 days of the three four-dayers are scheduled to get underway at 10:30am local time (3am IST, 10:30pm UK time - previous day).
