Mercedes have become the most successful engine builders in Formula 1 history by scoring their 252nd victory in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Their latest victory moves them past Ferrari, whose engines held the record for winning the most races since 2004.Mercedes’ factory team account for the majority of their wins. However three customer teams have also contributed to their wins tally, notably McLaren, who have scored 101 wins. The remainder were contributed by Brawn GP, who took eight wins in their sole season in 2009 before Mercedes bought the team, and Racing Point, who claimed a single victory with Mercedes power in 2020.
In contrast only one of Ferrari’s victories was not scored by their factory team. Sebastian Vettel claimed a single victory for Toro Rosso using Ferrari power at Monza in 2008.
