Lawson at risk of disqualification from qualifying over MGU-K rules breach | Formula 1

Liam Lawson faces being disqualified from the results of qualifying for a technical infringement.

The Racing Bulls driver’s car fell foul of the MGU-K rules during the session.

“Car 30, driver Liam Lawson, was in breach of the minimum MGU-K power requirement just after crossing the line on his fastest lap in Q2 at 15:47:36,” reported technical delegate Liam Lawson.

“This is a breach of articles C5.12.6 and C5.12.7. The driver maximum power demand and the electrical DC power of the ERS-K were reduced at greater rates than what is permitted by the regulations.”

As Lawson’s car has been found in violation of the technical rules he is likely to be disqualified from the session.
