Featured Comment: No F1 track changes in Monaco? That’s a good thing | Briefs

The Monaco Grand Prix promoter has rejected calls for more changes to the 97-year-old Formula 1 venue following complaints drivers find it too difficult to pass.

Reader @Roger-Ayles is pleased the Monte-Carlo circuit will stay the way it is:

I’m fine with that because I love Monaco for what it is, A somewhat unique challenge that is closer than almost everywhere else to what the sport used to be. Circuits that were a challenge, Where mistakes are costly and where a driver needs to maintain concentration for 90-plus minutes knowing that a small mistake and tap of the barrier could end there day.

In an era of mile-wide circuits with miles of runoff and ‘street’ circuits that are also really wide with a lot more room for error than street circuits used to provide the fact we have retained one historic true street circuit that still features most of the elements that used to make such circuits so unique & challenging is welcome as far as I’m concerned.

As people keep saying to fans like me who dislike the sprints and so on: If you don’t like this race then just don’t watch it, but I for one shall continue to watch and enjoy the Monaco Grand Prix!

Although been a sprint next year and given how I really dislike the sprint format I shall sadly from my point of view not be watching any of the Friday or Saturday track action for next years race.
