F1 could make call to move finale to Imola as late as ‘mid-November’ – report | Briefs

Formula 1 team bosses have said they want to know where the season finale will be held by mid-October.

The series intends to run its final two races as planned in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. However ongoing disruption caused by the US-Iran war has put that in doubt and led F1 to enlist the Imola circuit as a potential alternative venue for the final race.

A new report claims F1 could wait until the middle of November before deciding its plans for the final race of the season.

“There were also rumours in Malaysia and Singapore, where the sport has spent the last fortnight, that some sort of deal had been done between Qatar, the UAE and Iran to guarantee security, giving F1 increased confidence to press ahead,” adds the report in The Telegraph.

It comes after missile strikes hit an airport in nearby Saudi Arabia, whose world championship round was cancelled earlier this year. F1 is due to return to the country in March next year.
