Archie McParland has revealed details of the gruesome injury that derailed his summer tour dreams and scuppered his Prem celebration party.

The Northampton Saints scrum-half was carted off just 11 minutes into Saints 26-17 final win over Exeter Chiefs with a horrendous cut in his thigh that required 38 stitches.
To rub salt into the wound, McParland’s leg got infected and he was laid up in hospital when his team-mates were parading the trophy on an open-topped bus in Northampton.
